Problems in installing recent version of moose

I am getting this error,
/home/user/projects/moose/framework/libmoose-opt.so: undefined reference to `wasp::dir_name(std::__cxx11::basic_string<char, std::char_traits, std::allocator > const&)'

Previously I had installed moose on multiple HPC terminals without error. But after the wasp rollout there is some issue. If I already have a scheduler in the HPC then I am guessing I dont need the wasp scheduler. But I am not able to compile the code without wasp. Is there some way I can do this ?

Wasp isn't a scheduler. It s an input file parser and many other things

You do have to install it. For HPC, the script to do that is in moose/scripts

Looks like you run with your own compiler suite. I can totally respect that :)

This all looks fine to me! I was expecting some sort of conflicting paths between system libraries and possibly what your HPC module system is providing. With that not being the case, maybe we should see how WASP was linked instead.

Can you peruse around in moose/framework/contrib/wasp/install/lib, and run a couple more ldds on the libraries in there, see if you detect any oddities with the way those libraries linked?

Failing any oddities, I think then I need to bug @brandonlangley for another helpful eye.

This does not seem like a WASP version mismatch issue since most of those WASP functions have been around forever.

It looks like it is some linking issue to me. @anuragjha2015 - You mentioned:

Could you try git clean -xfd (lower-case d) in your /home/khushbu22/projects/moose directory before your rebuild?

Without the d option, the clean step will not remove any .libs subdirectories that may be left over in your repository.

That is the only thing that currently comes to mind to try, but I am definitely not an expert on build infrastructure issues.

I did that, everything seems fine. Wasp got built without errors, Should I paste the results here ?
What should I do next ?
I also did git clean -xfd, I am getting a new error as I have reported above. I think there is some error with the version of GCC or some dependency in that, do you think so ?

Those errors are referencing these WASP functions which have existed unchanged since the very beginning:

That seems more like some problem with linking to me, but I am not an expert on build infrastructure issues.

Ok re reading the thread.

/usr/bin/Python is always going to be the Python 2 system one. Nothing to change about that now that the path has the other Python first.

I agree with @brandonlangley . These look like linking errors.

The first thing I would try is

• git clean everything
• start again from the beginning with a single set of compilers throughout

I think you can ignore the Python sanity checks in this case. The failure stems from having two different python versions for:

which python3
which python

In an ideal world, both should return the same version. I believe MOOSE has updated all its shebangs to include python3 instead of a mix of python3 and python.
