I am using the provided systemd service to lock screen on laptop lid close. I also use an external monitor, and I have keybinds in i3wm to switch between laptop screen and monitor.
If I disconnect the monitor and then close the laptop to enter suspend, upon resume, I just see a black screen and I am locked out of the system. Blindly typing my password doesn't work, none of i3wm keybinds work (so I can't switch back to built-in display); hard reboot is the only way forward.

Does this also happen if you use i3lock-color alone with just a color? If yes I suggest to create an upstream issue there - otherwise I would need more output/logs/service-config to help further.
Edit: From #358 it would be interesting which kernel-version you have and if below 6.0 you could test with a version >= 6.0
Is there an existing issue for this?
