This is one of the most exciting releases yet. Proud to introduce the latest GPTR x LangGraph integration showcasing the power of flow engineering and multi agent collaboration! Check out the full implementation in the new directory multi_agents.

By using Langgraph, the research process can be significantly improved in depth and quality by leveraging multiple agents with specialized skills. Inspired by the recent STORM paper, this example showcases how a team of AI agents can work together to conduct research on a given topic, from planning to publication. An average run generates a 5-6 page research report in multiple formats such as PDF, Docx and Markdown.

The Multi Agent Team

The research team is made up of 7 AI agents:

• Chief Editor - Oversees the research process and manages the team. This is the "master" agent that coordinates the other agents using Langgraph.
• Researcher (gpt-researcher) - A specialized autonomous agent that conducts in depth research on a given topic.
• Editor - Responsible for planning the research outline and structure.
• Reviewer - Validates the correctness of the research results given a set of criteria.
• Revisor - Revises the research results based on the feedback from the reviewer.
• Writer - Responsible for compiling and writing the final report.
• Publisher - Responsible for publishing the final report in various formats.

Thanks for your reply. I'm using azure's openai, and the problem was fixed when the model version switched from 0613 to turbo-2024-04-09. At present, I find that the support for Chinese reports is still weak. Maybe I can study it and submit PR to solve this problem.

This is great work Assaf. Thank you for always pushing the frontier on what's possible. I've been toying with this and am curious to ask a few things.

1. When reviser edits the draft, it seems to only have access to the draft and review notes. How can you keep its revision grounded in the facts derived from the original sources?

2. A problem I've encountered is getting the model to find the "most relevant" facts from all the provided sources. However, "most relevant" is hard to evaluate since its like looking for a needle in the haystack. Are there strategies you've found to somehow optimize the feedback loop for factual quality?

3. When revisor loops back to researcher, is that meant to re-run the entire gpt-researcher flow?

4. What has been the average inference cost to run the whole flow and let it revise itself until its satisfied with its response?

1. That's a great point. ATM the reviser assumes the draft already holds the key and most factual facts from the research. This is done at the GPT-Researcher agent step which we've been working to improve over the last year. Ultimately that is where the focus should be to better improve the research step if we'd like to focus on it.
2. This is a great point that still requires a lot of research (also would be super happy for any ideas or contributions). Relevancy is definitely far from having better assessments of factuality. We currently live under the assumption that GPT Researcher aggregates over 20+ sources for a single research query and by the law of large numbers would hold the most factual information.
3. This is not yet implemented but more as a vision. ATM the conditional loop is between the reviser and reviewer based on the given research. Next stage would be to have the reviewer actually decide if the initial research was even on the right track and might ask the researcher to research again with more refined research tasks.
4. Depends if you run with reviewer or not (set the follow_guidelines param to true in task.json). Without revision would cost ~$0.5 atm. With revision ~$0.8-$1 depending on the amount of loops between the agents. Hopefully this would only reduce overtime as inference costs are reduced.

@assafelovic Nice job! Have you considered making it capable of producing a detailed_report? Currently it only supports research_report. I find detailed_report superior in many cases.

Also, it didn't respect all my guidelines. It produced a report with many subsections (as instructed by me), but they contained only placeholder text, without going into details.
