Am planning to write my thesis using Zettlr (moving over from Scrivener) and hitting some common UX things that I feel could be improved.
Project settings and properties
The settings for projects feel buried behind a right click, then a button click. Would be good to integrate all the project settings onto the one panel. It could work like this:
Properties
from the menuProject Settings
pop-up should appear immediatelyProject Settings
panel could have a section/tab for general settings (sorting, icons, title, etc.), one for file locations (bib file, csl, templates, etc.) , one for export details, ... and so on ...Ordering files
Ordering the individual files by clicking the up/down button isn't ideal and feels quite clunky and slow. It also doesn't work nicely with subfolders (e.g. thesis chapters). I have multiple
intro.md
files, one for each chapter and knowing what it what in the ordering panel is painful. Could we look at either:Option 1: Drag-drop ordering on the existing screen, potentially with the folder hierarchy presented
Option 2: Ordering in the workspace panel itself. This would be my ideal option
Exporting parts
As mentioned, I often have to export different parts of my project/thesis. Adding an export menu item to the right click on folders within your project will help. This would export the contents of that specific folder, obeying the general project settings (or even a local yaml metadata block within that folder).
