Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with displaying the graphical interface of BEMRosetta on Ubuntu, and I'm hoping someone could help me troubleshoot it.

Here's what I've done so far:

I downloaded and installed BEMRosetta on my Ubuntu system.
I followed the instructions in the README.md file by running the command "./theide".
Upon launching the application, I selected BEMRosetta to obtain the graphical interface, but it looks nothing like what I expected.
Here's a screenshot of the interface I'm getting:

I'm using Ubuntu, and I haven't encountered any specific errors when running the application.

Could you please assist me in identifying the problem and getting the correct graphical interface for BEMRosetta?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi Samir

From what you show in the images, you have installed U++ TheIDE, and you have opened the BEMRosetta project. TheIDE is the ideal IDE to compile C++ programs made with the U++ library, as is the case of BEMRosetta. From here you have to compile BEMRosetta. For this the most direct way is simply to press F5. To do it better, I would go to the drop-down where it says 'CLANG Debug', and put 'CLANG Release', to compile the release version. Press F5 and BEMRosetta should compile and run. Let me know if you get this far.

Best regards
Iñaki

Hi Iñaki,

Thank you for your detailed instructions. My main goal in using BEMRosetta is to visualize mesh files, especially those with extensions ".stl" and ".gdf". Additionally, I am looking to convert ".stl" files to ".gdf". Does BEMRosetta support these functionalities? If so, could you please guide me on how to proceed?

Thank you very much.

Best regards,
Samir

Hello Iñaki,

I just wanted to let you know that I've successfully followed your instructions! Thank you so much for your prompt and detailed response.
However, while compiling BEMRosetta, I encountered a minor issue. After pressing F5 as you recommended, the code compiled smoothly, but an error window popped up indicating that "xdotool" is not installed. I'll address this issue by installing "xdotool" as required.
I'll send you a screenshot of the error message so you can better understand the situation.
Once again, thank you very much for your invaluable assistance!
Best regards,
Samir

Hi Iñaki,

Thank you very much for the updated instructions! With your guidance, I've successfully converted my ".dtl" file to a ".gdf" file. Your advice was extremely helpful.
I was wondering, would it be possible to find a manual or guide in PDF format to further acquaint myself with BEMRosetta? It would greatly facilitate my learning process.
Thanks again for your invaluable assistance.

Best regards,
Samir

Hi Samir

Unfortunately there is no user manual, and only the important parts of the theory are published, especially here.
To try to make up for this, I try to make the usage as simple as possible.

Best regards
Iñaki
